Post War & Sorcery overview
This section of the forum will contain ideas for using magic in War & Conquest, or as we rename it here- War & Sorcery (and thanks to Steve Blease for the name, it was much better than mine!)

Magic can take many forms, and so we will be developing the background to the Trojan War and the 'meddling of the gods' through to the more classic 'fantasy worlds' of Orcs, Elves and Undead.

Stuck firmly in between no doubt will be lots of Arthurian legends.

As with the narrative and historical battles section of the forum, I expect some of the material to eventually arrive into print and of course, submissions from the community will be more than welcome!

The 'using magic' document should be up in the next couple of days and then I have a couple of ideas for fantasy lists well in development (the 'Army of the Dead' currently has five variants!).

Finally, the basic idea behind this section is to let players use their fantasy armies when playing War & Conquest. It is not intended to challenge any other companies Intellectual Property or Copyrights and trademarks should be respected and acknowledged should members of the community create any specific 'themed' lists.

Hipp hipp hurrraaay :)
Very nice idea (and name).

Question to copyright: The lists we create voluntarily are for free, so using names like Middle Earth or Darkelf or whatever like that should be no problem? If so, a list of names we shall not use would be very handy :)
Or a rough guide to avoid hassle

I think if more than one company use the name for their models, then its OK- Orc for example.

Hurrah!

At last the Knights of Bret... err  I mean Knights of Olde ;) can ride forth again!

I'm part way through a list for these (all conquering  ) chaps.

Also better dust of Jenny's Dwarf army.

Cheers

Matt

I watched an interesting documentary about the Zulu. At the end of a battle, upon returning to camp, the shaman/witch doctor performed a purification ceremony that absolved the warrior of blame for those they had killed. The doc was hosted by a special forces soldier who said that this was very important to allow a warrior to become a member of the tribe again and not think of them self as a 'killer'.

Thinking on this from a W&S pov - could a shaman/witch doctor/priest etc. offer a moral boost whilst in a unit? Would something like 'a unit containing a shaman that loses combat rolls using the shamans unmodified moral value'. That way you could set the shamans moral value at, say, 7.

Thoughts?

thats almost a 'legend of war' type idea for some of the 'warband' type armies or indeed 'Norse'

Of course its also a good spell

Roberto - awaiting the 'using magic' document. I appreciate you are busy reclining on a pile of pillows and scrumming choccys but if you could find the time ...

Yes, time, thats the thing- time, can I have some spare time please

I have brought skeletons and draft document to club the last couple of weeks for a trial on the table, however, games have been too exciting to call a halt!

Just musing on this - how powerful will the sorcery be? Can you, for instance, cause whole units to appear or disappear with a single spell? Are we talking Bel-Garrion strength?
