Post Re: Macedonians version 1
Points for Hypaspists versus Veterans:

Hypaspist with pike, light armour, shield, Trained Phalanx, Drilled --> 23 points
Veterans with pike, light armour, shield, Trained Phalanx, Drilled --> 17 points

only difference is Mo8 versus Mo7; is this single Moral point really worth 6 points?

Shouldn't the Hypaspist in Light formation also be allowed the Light Armour option?

Companions: maybe only 1 per General or Strategos (since every Leader fielded his own Companions) and the Personality has to join this unit

Thank you

The change from 7 to 8 for morale is +3 pt, drilled is an extra +2 (drilled for mv 7 or less is 2 pts, its 4 pts for 8)

So there should be a 5 point difference and I have made a change ready for a Macedonian version 2.

Drilled and Morale 8 is very good, command tests are rerolled on 3d6, very unlikely to fail (Well, you can but on average) especially if the general is near and morale goes to 9.

Troops that good pay a price. Ask my Spartans

Hypasists with spear can already take light armour as an option and its in the existing list.

I don't really know enough about the army organisation to comment on the Companion observation, I have received some comments from another player so will refer back in case they also made the point

Thanks for the explanation. Finally someone who puts costs in relation to its usefulness! *thumbs up*

The light armour issue - my bad, simply skipped it.

I have some thoughts about the Wedge Bonus and here seems to be a good place to post them:

Imho Shock Charge 2 for the Companions is to much if you compare them to Medieval Cavalry or Knights. Also, the Wedge was usually reported beeing very manouverable so maybe counting it as a Light Formation with Shock Charge 1 would be appropiate?

New version of the Macedonian list now online - I do plan to review the wedge in the next version, as I 'think' I have a decent solution for it.

I left the original comments above in as some are interesting and also as a prompt for me to double check my math

Interesting comment on the Shock bonus being too much, will bear that in mind at the same time - will see how the army at the event this weekend gets on.
