Theres actually 2 rules, a Voluntarily Rout and a Disengage From Combat

Fully Experimental at the moment but look forward to the commentary

(Mike C - following our chat at Salute the rule is different to what I was considering at the time so thanks for that)

I think testing rather than play testing will have to suffice for this. A lot of people think it is a good idea but only so many of us have armies with shock cavalry, and those who have are usually unwilling to throw it head on at formed infantry in a game just to test a rule. In more than half a dozen battles recently I have only witnessed two cavalry charges into infantry and the target was usually poorly armed with very low morale which did not stand but were destroyed.

I have the rule at my side in every battle but have not required it yet.

George - that is a fair point, and indeed its one reason why I decided the rule wasn't necessary in the rulebook, the need never arose (and I had never needed a similar rule in another game either)

So I think I will tidy up the revised version and get it online along with a couple of other bits and bobs
