Post Additional rules
A strength of War & Conquest, 18 months old and no need for an errata.
However, I am currently writing up a couple of new rules to help enhance and add to our War & Conquest games. Just thought I would mention it here to keep you on your toes in readiness for their arrival!

Units supporting others by being nearby when in close combat??? That is, lending some moral support, encouragement, or just throwing a few more sharp sticks at the enemy?

Withdrawing from combat with a view to leading the enemy in to a headlong rush forward in to your cunningly prepared trap???

Cheers

Matt

I'm not too sure how you can improve on perfection Rob. But I'm sure you will try.

To the generic rule set; I think I’d like to see skirmishers who are charged have the option of standing & or stand and fire where, in the opinion of the player with the skirmishers, it is unlikely that the charger will reach. If they do reach the skirmishers are destroyed.

In respect of chariot era armies; I’d recommend that the morale effect of chariots on battle formations of infantry is factored in.
Possibly during in-period play if Glancing Attacks cause sufficient damage a Combat Morale test is triggered.

There is an effect on the targets Morale if chariots do enough damage already in the rules.

And the first of the new rules is related to chariots, and skirmishers.. On one hand it will give, and on the other... take away!

As things stand to have an effect the chariots have to perform like super heroes to get the 20% to trigger a test or have another melee unit attacking the enemy etc. to drop the their Mo by 1.

I was thinking more along the lines of reducing the 20% figure or triggering a Combat Melee test on the infantry if the chariots inflict more casualties than they receive.

Just musings of course.

Oh I forgot the sling amendment should be formalised as well, while we are at it.
